Dr. John Bowen, Advisor with Crew 77 is leading a number of opportunities in the near future that you would like to discover. These are excellent adventures with one of the best guides in the business.
1. Whitewater Rafting Class: The only adventure trip of its kind. Learn all the leadership and technical skills required to go on a real whitewater rafting trip of your own! Thousands of people run their own rafting trips on America’s rivers by themselves. Most people though just go through an outfitter and go on what amounts to a ride. This five day class will teach your crew how to navigate rafts, read the rapids, stay safe, and be able to go on a real adventure, not just a ride. It will also teach the principles of outdoor leadership necessary to run a safe and fun trip, and even how to prepare great river meals. We will learn on the Upper Colorado River in Colorado, camping on the banks for four nights while learning all the right things everyday on the river. The instructors are professional whitewater guide instructors with several thousand river miles of experience, and with a perfect safety record. The first trip is June 4-8. Cost of the entire five days including all the gear and instruction for Venturing Crews is $200/person, with the participants bringing the food. There are several other open weeks to help fit your schedule.
2. Learn Wilderness and Remote First Aid geared toward River Rats: This four day class covers the American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid with all the scenarios to be held on the Colorado River. Dates are June 11-15 and June 25-29. Cost is only $100/person. CPR and having some experience on the river are prerequisites.
