Powder Horn is filling up for 2011! Here’s your chance to help develop your high adventure program for 2011.
The Last Frontier Council is host to Powder Horn on April 14-17 and April 28 – May 1, 2011. Boy Scouting and Venturing leaders can take advantage of this terrific training opportunity to improve the resources you need to develop a high adventure program in your troop or crew.
This course has a curriculum that includes introductions to the necessary skills to oversee a high adventure program, and the certifications necessary (and how to obtain those certifications) including: Backpacking, Cave Exploring, Communication, Conservation, Cooking, COPE, Ecology, Emergency Preparedness, Equestrian, Expedition Planning, First Aid, Fishing, Hunting, Land Navigation, Leave No Trace, Life Saver, Mountaineering, Mountain Biking, Outdoor Living History, Physical Fitness, Plants & Wildlife, Scuba, Shooting Sports, Watercraft, Wilderness Survival and Working with Teens
The first half of the course will be located at the Diamond H Scout Ranch. The second half will be hosted at Slippery Falls Scout Ranch. Kirby Junge is the course director and a veteran of several Powder Horn courses.
