The National Scout Jamboree is a function of the Boy Scouting program of the BSA. Since it’s limited to Boy Scouts, Venturing Crews can’t attend as official contingent crews from a council. Venturers can visit or better yet, get involved in a fun way as staffers.
Jamboree staff positions are open to adult men and women who meet required qualifications. Adult staff members must have been born before July 26, 1989. Youth staff members must have been born between August 4, 1989 and July 26, 1994, and be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America. Jamboree staff applicants are submitted online directly to the national office. An electronic process has been developed for councils’ review, evaluation, and approval. The Web site will be accessible through www.MyScouting.org for volunteers. Click on “Event Registrations” and then “Jamboree”
Youth staff (under age 18) have the opportunity to serve in numerous job assignments at the jamboree. Youth staff will be needed in many of the jamboree groups and services listed on the staff application, such as jamboree band (Daily Ceremonies), Trading Posts, Brownsea Island, Action Centers, and Service Corps.
Adult Staff Fee: $795.00
Youth Staff Fee: $397.50
A $100 deposit is due at the time of the application.
More details can be reviewed at the BSA National jamboree website

So what is the fun of being a staffer at a Jamboree?
Scout leaders for official contingent troops work a solid 15 day and night schedule looking after their troops. As a staffer, you work a regular work day. At the end of your shift, you have no big responsibilities. Most staffers work a day then get the next day off for fun.
For Venturers, you get to network with some of the nation’s best Venturers and Venturing Leaders and see and experience nearly all the fun the Scouts have too.
In 2005 the Venturing Mine exhibit was a popular attraction with Scouts in the only air conditioned simulated underground adventure.
On your application you can note your preferences for certian jobs such as this Venturer working media relations. He is here introducing Lillian Morris, a Scoutmaster that appeared on a season of “Survivor.”
The arena show is a highlight of any jamboree, the 2010 show celebrating the centennial of the BSA should be an event to remember.
